The dumb old liberal media, like a bunch of sheep. Every newspaper in the country is running articles about the "surprise" candidate, the "unknown," the "gamble," thinking McCain chose a woman because of the Hillary effect.
So stupid.
Because the reality is that Palin is not an unknown to a certain sect of influential Republican voters, that exlusive club of Dobson-Focus-on-the-Family voters. Yes, those same voters who hated McCain just a few months ago, who swore they'd never vote for that liberal McCain.
Palin is what makes McCain palatable to the religious conservatives. She is the unifier.
Not only is she a Pro-Life Hero for giving birth to a baby with downs-syndrome, even after she knew her baby would be born with disbilities, but she's achieved some truly remarkable things in her short two years as governor, including suing the US Department of Fish and Wildlife to get the polar bear taken off the endangered species list. That takes some serious cajones. She poo-poos climate change, is all for Big Oil drilling in Alaska's sea shelf and the Arctic Wildlife Refuge. And she wants creationism taught in our schools.

It will take the liberal media a few weeks to figure it out. That's OK. It's an exclusive club, the insiders know the truth.
